The Justin Fashanu Foundation Partners with Brigit's Bakery to Hand thousands of Croissants to The NHS for Mental Health Awareness Week

This week is Mental Health awareness week, and The Justin Fashanu Foundation has partnered up with Brigit's Bakery to bake and give out thousands of croissants Hospitals in London, with the simple mission of making people smile!!

This is our small contribution to those who are and have been helping us through this pandemic which effects us all.

I woke up at around 6am and made my way to meet another 2 volunteers who would help me in handing out croissants. I truly love giving back and I know this initiative has made a few people smile and that was our main goal!

We went to 7 NHS Hospitals on Brigit's double decker NHS branded bus where we shared out our boxes of warm croissants made with a lot of love. I have written the list of Hospitals for your info further down in the post.

Thank you for sharing these wonderful images with us guys!!!!

Everyone is smiling!!!

The Justin Fashanu Foundation

The Justin Fashanu Foundation Focuses on raising awareness around the issues of Racism, Mental Health and Homophobia in Football and this week being Mental Health Awareness Week..... we wanted to do something positive by partnering up with Brigit's Bakery to donate thousands of freshly baked croissants to the real heroes of this pandemic.... The NHS Heroes as I call them.

We visited 7 Hospitals across London Including:

  1. UCLH - University College London Hospital

  2. Royal Free Hospital

  3. St Mary's Hospital

  4. Hammersmith Hospital

  5. Charing Cross Hospital

  6. St Georges Hospital

At The Justin Fashanu Foundation we are delighted to count with the expertise of Stephen Daltrey, who is our Head of Mental Health and Coaching Services. He provides Mental Health and Coaching services as well as being a Mental Wellbeing and Performance Coach.

I personally would like to get a MHFA Certificate so I will hopefully take the course next month too. MHFA for those who don't know stands for Mental Health First AID. This is an internationally recognised training course which teaches people how to spot the signs and symptoms of mental ill health and provide help on a first aid basis.

MHFA won't teach you to be a therapist, but just like physical first aid, it will teach you to listen, reassure and respond, even in a crisis.

Adult MHFA courses are for everyone aged 16 upwards. Every MHFA course is delivered by a quality assured instructor who has attended the Instructor Training programme accredited by the Royal Society for Public Health, and is trained to keep people safe and supported while they learn.

I find this very interesting and I see it as a necessity on a personal level in order to carry out the best job possible in the foundation both now and in the future.
