Amal Fashanu has charted a captivating and bold journey into music. Though best known as a journalist, equality advocate, fashion icon, and founder of the Justin Fashanu Foundation, in 2022 she began exploring her musical voice with singles like “Detty December” and “Lean On Me,” blending Afrobeat, R&B, and Latin pop to early acclaim. Building on this momentum, she released her debut EP, “Unreleased Letters to My Ex,” on Valentine’s Day, 14 February 2025. The five-track record available on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music and more—dove deep into themes of love, heartbreak, and healing, with songs like “No Regrets,” “Heartache,” and “MOMM” showcasing her heartfelt lyricism and genre-splicing vision.

Her transition into music resonates with the same authenticity she brings to her activism and design work. Celebrated by media outlets like Hunger, Clash, Earmilk, and GhanaWeb, Amal’s voice has been praised for its emotional clarity and refreshing Afrobeat-R&B fusion. After firmly planting her flag with a debut that laid bare her emotions, she’s now hard at work crafting her second EP, with an eye on a 2026 release. This next chapter promises to be even more refined, reflective of her growth as an independent artist and her eagerness to expand musical horizons even further.
